MYF Bible Study

The Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) finished the study of Galatians as part of the Bible study.  Three things stand out in Galatians.

First, Paul was called by the grace of Christ on the road to Damascus to be an Apostle. Second, the gospel teaches us that we are justified by faith alone, not by works, and that our justification rests on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who died in our place, taking the curse, we deserved. Third, believers live a new life not on their own strength but by the power of the Spirit, not to gain merit before God but because of God’s gracious work in their lives.

In the book of Galatians, Paul emphatically argues that the Gospel is solely centered on Jesus Christ, with no additions or prerequisites. He underscores the sufficiency of Christ’s work on the cross, dismissing any reliance on the law or human efforts for salvation. For Paul, the message is clear: faith in Jesus Christ alone is the essence of the Gospel, and it is this simple yet profound truth that brings freedom and grace to believers.

The Youth put up a play on MYF Sunday on the theme Jesus Christ – The Only way of Salvation to Mankind which was based on the learning from Galatians. Key message from the play were:

  • We know that a person is not justified by law or own good works, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
  • True Gospel of Jesus Christ gives us salvation
  • The law or good work cannot save but only faith in Jesus Christ can justify us before God
  • Paul encourages every believer to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh which enable every believer to produce Godly virtues.

The group is also studying the Parables and miracles of Jesus Christ as it reveals the truth of God’s kingdom while simultaneously challenges the commonly held world views. These discussions provide invaluable insights, helping us address the real-world challenges we face as young believers.

Looking forward, we are excited about the path ahead, committed to growing in our relationship with Christ and supporting one another in our spiritual journeys. Together, we will continue to seek God’s wisdom and guidance, striving to live out our faith with conviction and purpose.
